The King’s Church has grown from small beginnings in 1998. We are very grateful to God for the way he has helped us over this time.

The King’s Church started in Didcot as a house group planted out from Abingdon Community Church and officially launched on Sunday mornings on 26th September 1999, led by Jeremy and Jo Bray with a team of 20 adults and one baby! Jeremy and Jo wanted to start a church that was easy for newcomers to get involved with and discover God’s goodness. The church grew through Alpha courses, friendship and fun. We moved from our first Sunday morning venue (Barnes Close Community Centre) and as we grew we moved into different venues across the town.

In 2006 we sent out Jeremy and Jo with a team to plant Open House church in Warwick. Since then we’ve grown and learnt under the leadership of Robin and Lisa Howard (2007-2013) and Mike and Liz Beaumont, who took over the role in 2013 with a mandate to find the next permanent leaders.

In April 2015 Nick and Naomi White and Paul and Francesca Gander were set in place as the new leaders. Since then we've seen exciting new developments, and together with our partner churches in Didcot and Wallingford, launch Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Advice in Didcot, and become part of the Didcot Youthwork Trust.

In February 2021 we benefitted from a wide consultation within the church, supported by an apostolic team from OpenGate churches. This consultation (called Building On Up) helped us to identify where God is calling us for the next few years, in particular to invest in youth work and leadership, and find a Stepping Stone venue where we can explore how we can serve our community from a building both on Sundays and during the week. In March 2021 we sent out Paul and Francesca to help lead Wantage Community Church, and in the Summer of 2021 we started meeting some Sundays at Didcot Methodist Church as our first Stepping Stone venue.

In March 2022 God called us on from Didcot Methodist Church, and for a season we gathered at Didcot Leisure Centre. In 2023 we moved again, making The Junction on Lydall's Road our home for the next two years.

By February 2025, we had outgrown our space at the Junction as more people joined our church family. Recognising the need for a larger venue with room to grow, we began searching — and saw God’s hand guiding us every step of the way.

We’re now delighted to meet at Aureus Secondary School, Candytuft Way, Didcot. We have also welcomed a youth worker to our team, who splits his time equally between ECHO and ourselves.

We are full of anticipation and excitement for everything God has in store for us in the days ahead!
