We believe God wants us to work in teams. Our church is led by a leadership team and we have other teams that support and serve the church and the community.

Leadership Team

Nick and Naomi White

Nick and Naomi came to Didcot in 1999 to help start the King’s Church. They met as students in Oxford and trained at King’s Bible College in Berwickshire before moving here. They have four mostly grown-up children and enjoy walking, reading, watching cricket and thinking about gardening. Nick is employed as Pastor of King’s Church full-time. Naomi is employed by the church one day a week as an Assistant Pastor. Nick and Naomi have particular responsibility for leading the team and strategic direction, preaching and teaching, discipleship, prayer and the spiritual side of Sunday mornings, and Naomi oversees youth and children’s work.

Nick and Naomi will be on Sabbatical from Easter Monday to July 23rd (when they will join us at Wildfires). Details of their Sabbatical and who to contact in their absence is here.

Chris and Jo Preston

Chris and Jo married and moved to Didcot in 2000 initially due to it being a convenient town halfway between Oxford and Reading where their jobs were based. They started attending The King's Church when it was only 6 months old and quickly felt at home, developing a heart for the town and the people in it and recognising God’s call to love and serve the community. Many years on, Chris still works in Reading as Manager in a print company and Jo is a physiotherapist in the NHS. They have 3 children who bring them much joy, the eldest of which is now at university.

Their particular responsibilities in the church are worship and tech oversight, Sunday morning meeting leading, running the crèche and oversight of the Missional Community leaders.

Estie and Matt Warren

Matt and Estie have been at the Kings Church since 2004 and have been involved in various aspects of the church, initially taking on a house group, co-leading coffee and kids for 13 years and now heading the team that lead Faith Missional Community. Matt is a database and events officer for an overseas Christian mission charity and Estie works as a nurse practitioner in the NHS and they have three children and one dog.

They enjoy dog walking, spending time with family and watching and playing football among other sports.

Andrew and Rachel Sheard

Andrew and Rachel joined the King’s Church in 2014 after moving to Oxfordshire from Norfolk where they were part of the Leadership at King’s Lynn Baptist Church. Andrew works as a Quality professional and Rachel is an accountant. They live in Harwell with their daughter Beth who is at university and have two older sons who have now left home. Together with Annetta they lead  the Love Didcot missional community. Andrew oversees the practical Sunday morning teams and Rachel oversees the tea and coffee team and serves as the Treasurer for King’s Church.

Jansen and Elenza Jacob

Jansen and Elenza were part of a house group led by Jermey and Jo Bray in Didcot, which later became the Kings Church in 1999. Originally from Kerala, India, they have grown to love the town they now call home.

They have two grown-up children. Elenza works as a dentist, while Jansen, a former scientist, now provides consultancy services to the life sciences sector.

Jansen and Elenza currently lead Hope MC. Jansen also offers operational support to the church, while Elenza brings prophetic encouragement. In addition, Jansen serves as a trustee of Oxfordshire Community Churches.

Youth Team

Sam Melia

“I’m Sam Melia (that’s Melia like it rhymes with Amelia—though I’ve heard just about every version!).

I first came to King’s Church in early 2024 after moving to the area with my wife. My background is a patchwork, ranging from capital projects analysis to private tutoring, all the way to earning a doctorate in structural geology after twelve years at university!

All the while, God had tucked away firmly in a corner of my heart the call to “Feed my Lambs.” In 2024, I began praying into that call—and wouldn’t you know it (though with God there’s no such thing as coincidence), a youth work position opened up right here at King’s Church! I’ve always believed in gently pushing on doors to see which ones God will open—and He swung this one wide.

Now, I’m thrilled to say I’ll be working full-time with ECHO, a Christian youth charity serving the greater Didcot area, and I’ll be seconded to King’s Church for fifty percent of that time.

ECHO plays a huge role in the life of Didcot’s youth, and I’m excited to help its events grow and reach even more young people. One standout is our Thursday Youth Café—which now welcomes over 100 young people each week! I’m also aiming to deepen connections with local schools, open new doors for outreach, and continue growing other ECHO projects like Soul Sport, ECHO Explore (our Youth Alpha!), and Youth Worship.

I’m so grateful to be here—and even more excited for what God has ahead!”

Sam serves in the Youth Team alongside Naomi White and our great team of volunteers.

Operations Team

Josie Mottershead

Josie joined the King’s Church in 2006 when she got married to Martin and moved to Didcot from London where she had been on the founding team of a church plant. Before leaving London she worked in charity administration and fundraising. When she moved from London Josie worked for 5 years at Midcounties Co-operative as a Membership Development Co-ordinator. Josie stopped work to bring up Rachael but during that time she also volunteered for various charities including King’s Church. She lives in Didcot with Martin and their daughter Rachael. As well as doing the Church administration, Josie served in children’s work in the church for 13 years and now serves on the Welcome Team. She enjoys walking the dog (a rather energetic Border Collie called Buddy), reading and watching cosy murder mysteries and listening to decluttering podcasts.

Josie serves in the Operations Team as Administrator alongside Jansen Jacob, Operations Manager, who is currently volunteering his time in this role.
